Sony announced a price drop in its flagship PS3 gaming console from $399 to $299 dollars. This drop in price includes a 50% increase in storage to 120GB, power reduction of 34%, and a redesigned chassis reducing space requirements by 32%. Of the three major consoles, the PS3 remains 3rd in worldwide sales behind Sony's Wii and Microsoft' XBox 360.

My Take: there is some evidence for a shift in unit sales among the three consoles. The XBox 360 saw sales improve significantly after its last price cut. However, the worldwide software sales chart ending August 8th shows a total dominance of the Wii, so it may be a little soon to say that the Wii is in trouble.
